If you like sand you’ll love Winterton on Sea beach.
Not only is the beach covered in fine golden sand where you can take in the stunning view but there are no amusement arcades, so it's just the sound of the sea keeping you company.
Winterton has, by what are widely regarded as, the best sand dunes in Norfolk and nestled on the outskirts of them is Seal View, a delightful café where an assortment of fresh food and beverages can be purchased.
There are many published hike trails and cycle routes of various lengths, throughout the local area, some following the unspoilt Norfolk coastline through areas officially designated as 'Area of Outstanding Beauty' others following the famous Norfolk Broads. Use the link below to explore the many options available.
Our site is nestled in a stunning location, encircled by lands recognized as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty, one of just 46 such areas in the country. The local village features a pub, post office/tea rooms, a small convenience store, and a fish & chip shop.
What more could you need?
Adjacent to the site is a secure fenced dog exercise field. Here, for a small fee, your pooch can roam freely off-leash across an acre of land, with the assurance of no other dogs present. For additional information, please follow the link below to our sister site.
Horsey Windpump is an iconic building with a fascinating past and the perfect gateway to experience the connection between man and nature. Standing sentinel over the mere and surrounding Broadland landscape, a climb to the top is rewarded with beautiful panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, an opportunity not to be missed.
The village is known for its medieval bridge and the Church of St Nicholas. There are two national nature reserves within the parish; the Ludham – Potter Heigham NNR is to the west of the village whilst the Heigham Holmes NNR is to the east. The Weavers Way, a long distance footpath, also passes through the village on its way from Cromer to Great Yarmouth. Why not hire a day or picnic boat and explore the Broads at a slower pace on the water, stopping for lunch at one of the many pubs on the banks of the river. Norwich City—the vibrant cultural and historical hub of Norfolk, featuring two cathedrals, a castle, and theatres. Opt for an eco-friendly journey by taking a bus from the village to Great Yarmouth the either a short train journey or another bus right to the centre of Norwich. Once there you can meander through the city's quaint alleys and cobbled streets, pausing to enjoy refreshments at one of the many welcoming pubs.
Using Winterton as your hub, why not take in the grandeur of Norfolk's many country estates including Holkham Hall and Blickling Hall as well as the Royal Palace of Sandringham.
And for a unique experience, why not take an aerial tour of the Norfolk Broads, countryside and stunning coastline in a light plane from Norwich airport with Norwich Aviation Centre.
